English Vocabulary Lesson - Body Parts

RPH-Year 2 English : Body Parts

RANCANGAN PENGAJARAN HARIAN

Subject : English

Class    : 2 UM

Number of Pupils : 46

Date     : 14 November 2011

Time    : 9.15 a.m. – 9.45 a.m. ( 30 minutes )

Theme/Topic            : World of Self and Family : Personal Details – 
                                        My Body Parts

Learning Outcomes : By the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:

            1) Sing the song “head and shoulders, knees and toes” with actions.
            2) Identify the body parts and touch accordingly.
            3) Match all the names of the body parts to the correct pictures of 
                body parts.
            4) Read and spell at least 10 out of 15 names of body parts 
                correctly.
            5) Read and understand the functions of body parts.
            6) Guess the answers to at least 5 out of 8 riddles correctly.

Moral Values                   : Appreciate our own parts of body

Educational Emphases : Multiple Intelligence – Verbal Intelligence, 
                                              Musical Intelligence, Kinesthetic Intelligence

Previous Knowledge : Pupils have learned about the names of the body 
                                          parts during Year One and the lesson before last 
                                          week.

Teaching and Learning Activities :

Set Induction (minute 1 – 4)

1) Teacher asks students to point their body parts according to instructions.
2) Teacher sings the “Body Parts Song”, then ask the students to sing 
    along and do the actions together.
3) Teacher leads the students to say today’s learning topic – “Body Parts”


Presentation (minute 5 - 16) 

1) Teacher distributes task sheet 1 to the students and ask them to 
    complete it within 5 minutes.
2) Teacher pastes the large picture on the board.
3) Teacher discusses the answers of task sheet 1 with the students.
4) Teacher asks the students to check the spellings and do correction.
5) Teacher drills the pupils on the pronunciation and spelling of the words.
6) Teacher asks the students to name the function of particular body parts 
    such as eyes, ears, nose, tongue, teeth, mouth, hands and legs. Hints 
    and guidance will be given if needed. 


Practice (minute 17 – 26)

1) Teacher distributes task sheet 2 to the students and ask them to 
    complete it within 7 minutes. Assistance will be given to those 
    students who are slow.
2) Teacher discusses the answers of task sheet 2 with the students.


Closure (minute 27 - 30)
1) Recaps the lesson by using riddles.
